There are four taxi companies in Vancouver.
If you're in a popular downtown area, you'll be able to find a taxi
easily.
If you aren't, it is probably best to call the cab company and request
pick up.
Cab meters start at either $3.05 and cost between $1.73 .
However, if you're in traffic, the meter switches from charging by distance
to charging by time.
By time, taxis cost $31/hour .
Taxi rides in town generally cost between $10.00 and $20.00.
MacLure's Cabs reports the lowest fares from the airport, but only by
a couple of dollars.

Over 400 licensed taxis are available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week
for
YVR customers.
All taxi vehicles serving YVR are seven years old or newer, and drivers
have
completed comprehensive training courses in safe driving, customer service
and
assisting persons with special needs.
Pre-bookings of 4-door sedans, mini-vans or Wheelchair Accessible Taxis
are not
required; simply inform one of the BC Corps Commissionaires (stationed
at the
taxi queue area on the curb and roadway).
Taxis charge a metered rate based on time and distance travelled, the
approximate fare to downtown Vancouver is $23-$26 (inclusive of all
taxes) under
normal conditions.

2007 marks the 96th anniversary of MacLure's Cabs, founded in 1911 by Donald C MacLure making Maclure's Cabs the oldest cab company in the Lower Mainland.
MacLure's Cabs initially provided tours around Stanley Park and serviced Vancouver and surrounding areas and eventually the Vancouver International Airport.
Awarded the Airport contract in 1968 until 1980 meant MacLure's Cabs were exclusively allowed to pick up passengers from the Vancouver International Airport.
The city of Vancouver requires all drivers to hold this permit in order to provide service to the public.
